In (hyper-loyal) cultures, loyalty is so highly prized that it covers a multitude of leadership sins. Ive seen numerous bad leaders cover their ineptitude by stressing the importance of loyalty over competence. They teach that loyalty is more important than excellence and they use that idea to distract the team from their own inability to perform.
