What use, after all, is man, if not to teach God His lessons?
“Goodness is nothing in the furnace of art.”
“I looked on astounded as from his ordinary life he made his art. We were both ordinary men, he and I. Yet from the ordinary he created Legends--and I from Legends created only the ordinary!”
“Tell me, before you call us servants, who served whom? And who, I wonder, in your generations, will immortalize you?”
“I sought to hear the voice of God and climbed the topmost steeple, but God declared: "Go down again - I dwell among the people.”
“We limit ourselves and God who wants to work through us”
“God can only work through those who have totally identified themselves with His will and purpose”
“God is in the slums, in the cardboard boxes where the poor play house. God is in the silence of a mother who has infected her child with a virus that will end both their lives. God is in the cries ...”
“While you are proclaiming peace with your lips, be careful to have it even more fully in your heart.”
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. -John, Apostle (and brother?) of Jesus, The Bible (RSV, non-Catholic), 3:16”
