Shunryu Suzuki was Japanese buddhist monk who popularized zen in the us. Shunryu Suzuki was a Sōtō Zen monk and teacher who helped popularize Zen Buddhism in the United States, and is renowned for founding the first Zen Buddhist monastery outside Asia.
